PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT - Cylinder Retention Brackets

Compressed gas cylinders contain high pressure and may be filled with many gases including Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Helium (Balloon Gas) and Hydrogen, among others. All cylinders are dangerous if left unsecured. The cylinder may be knocked over which may open the valve or snap it off, potentially releasing extremely high pressures of 20,000kPa or more.

If the valve is snapped off an unrestrained cylinder, it may become a projectile, potentially launching through walls and slamming through anything in its path, including people. Alternatively, if the valve remains intact but is opened as a result of the impact, the gas may leak out of the cylinder.

When large amounts of gas leak into an area, there is potential for the atmospheric composition to change significantly.  In such a case, this may lead to the asphyxiation of people within that area.  Additionally, if the leaked gas is oxygen, an oxygen enriched atmosphere will be created that will promote ignition.

To prevent against these accidents, AS 4332-1995 requires that all cylinders, full or empty, are secured against falling.  To help our customers meet this standard and their duty of care to their staff, Tesuco has remodelled our existing single cylinder bracket and also introduced a new two cylinder bracket.

These brackets are made of heavy duty 304 stainless steel, have a "V" shaped design to suit different cylinder sizes, have a strong load rated chain and securing clip, and now have a cushioned bracket edge to protect the operator from injury and the cylinder from damage.  The cylinder brackets are a very safe and economical way to secure your cylinders.
